Growthpoint – Sandton

The new Growthpoint Properties office environment retains its existing footprint but illustrates an evolution into a modern, flexible and responsive environment with a clear focus on collaboration and connection.

At the heart of this concept of connection features the massive alteration of a set of new staircases which saw us puncture through the slabs of the building. This opened up the relationship between the floors and the departments occupying them.

Leading from the ground floor all the way up to the third floor, the staircases are a physical and metaphorical link bridging the gap between the old and new way of working. This feature effectively guides the circulation and interaction across the floor plates.

The original Growthpoint Properties reception was tucked away to the side of the large building atrium with the reception desk angled away from the visitor.

To create an entrance area that both welcomed visitors and also connected in an open and engaging way to the building atrium; thinkspace redesigned this entire space, changing the location, design and orientation of the reception desk and implementing folding stacking windows along the façade that completely open up during the day, affording a view of the collaborative waiting lounge area that can now make the most of the energy and vibe in the central atrium.

This energy spills over into a vibrant plaza area, featuring a mix of seating configurations, high quality furnishings, colourful accents and greenery, all making for the perfect setting for an informal coffee break with a colleague.

The workspace design thinking allows for focused work in high tech, ergonomic spaces and propels Growthpoint to the cutting edge of working environments where they can expect a high level of employee engagement and efficiency.

The focus on building an agile working environment was fundamental to our approach. The implementation of design and spatial planning principles tailored around how the organisation works, helped us design a workplace which encourages communication and collaboration across the organisation.

The result is a new way of working, boosting productivity and enhancing connection between team mates.
