Nolands

Nolands, an international auditing firm, tasked thinkspace to design their new Cape Town headquarters located in the bustling business center of Century City. The objective was to rethink their previous, more traditional office setup at the Maitland premises and establish an inclusive, collaborative, and non-corporate environment that mirrors the vibrant surroundings. Additionally, the aim was to attract and retain talented staff and provide a space where both customers and members can thrive.

Upon entering, visitors encounter a welcoming reception area designed to promote collaboration with high tables and booth seats. A visual connection leads to a spacious recreational breakout area with seating landscape and an after-hours bar for staff functions. This area then flows into the two main operational zones, which boast panoramic city views. Two expansive, team-oriented hubs surrounded by a diverse meeting landscape make up the operational space. In response to the reimagination of their traditional way of working, a mix of offices and open plan desks are strategically located to promote collaborative working methods. Open-plan desks feature organically shaped workstations with acoustic bulkheads that mirror the desk footprint. The overall design incorporates exposed services and soffits, bulkheads, slatted structures, and suspended lighting, these elements create both volume and an intriguing level of interest.

Furnishings, finishes, and textures adhere to a natural, light colour palette with various accents such as signage, whiteboards, and acoustic elements. The integration of greenery throughout the office not only activates the space but also establishes a relaxing and lively ambiance. Meticulous detailing includes round whiteboards, vision panels, customized joinery, furniture, and bulkhead details.

The result is a space that prioritizes staff well-being, fostering an environment that not only welcomes but also inspires each team member to excel within their collaborative teams. The design successfully redefines the workspace, promoting inclusivity and innovation while maintaining a focus on individual and collective growth.
